Apple plans to introduce two editions of their second-generation headset

Apple is reportedly working on launching both a high-end and a low-end version of their second-generation headset. This news comes after the tech giant has been in development on their upcoming mixed reality (MR) headset for several years, with rumors circulating about the device’s capabilities and design.

According to a report by The Information, the low-end version of the headset will reportedly resemble the Oculus Quest 2, which has been a popular device among consumers due to its affordable price point and strong performance. It is said that this headset will rely on a separate device, such as an iPhone or iPad, to provide processing power and connectivity. The high-end version, on the other hand, will reportedly be a standalone device with its own processing power and 5G connectivity.

Both versions of the headset are expected to feature eye-tracking technology, allowing the device to track a user’s gaze and adjust the image displayed on the screen accordingly. This feature is expected to enhance the MR experience, making it more immersive and realistic.

Other features that have been rumored for the upcoming Apple MR headset include hand and gesture tracking, spatial audio, and a high-resolution display with a wide field of view. The device is also said to be designed with comfort in mind, with a lightweight and adjustable headband that will allow users to wear the headset for longer periods of time without discomfort.

While there is no official release date for the Apple MR headset, it is rumored to be launched sometime in 2022. However, it is not clear if both the high-end and low-end versions will be released simultaneously or if there will be a staggered release.

Apple’s entry into the MR market is expected to be a significant move for the technology industry, as the company has a track record of disrupting markets with innovative products. With the launch of both a high-end and low-end version of their MR headset, Apple is likely looking to appeal to a wide range of consumers and establish themselves as a major player in the MR market.
